My Thoughts about PROM!!!!!
Today I would like to talk about Prom. Prom is way to expensive for what it is worth. Just for me to hang out with my friends I have to pay $100, also for me to rent a Tux it was touching $150, and don't even get me start on how much girls have to pay. It seems like some fun and a good excuse to get dressed up. And if you want to ask a girl out you have to do something special or buy them something nice, which for me seems a bit excessive, but it is what it is. The cost out weighs the benefits for me. Others will say it is worth the high price tag but it really is not. Although I did not go last year I have been told that the food was terrible, the DJ was bad, and the after prom was better than prom itself. Overall I have never been a huge fan of school dances in the first place, but I still know it is not worth the price. Overall my school really needs to reduce the price of prom.

Some Fun
For the last couple of weeks I have been volunteering with the special olympics. This experience has been a lot of fun., although it can be a bit frustrating. I have been teaching kids how to swim. All in all it is always a great experience and I am always looking forward to it. It always makes me smile when I see a kid pick up a new concept. It is extremely rewarding to work with these kids. You also really create a bond with a lot of these kids.

Refugee Ban
Lets be honest about the refugee ban, it is completely on unconstitutional. The United States has always had the in its Bill of Right that you can be a part of any religion, and they can turn you away for being a part of a religion. So to attempting to ban muslims/muslims countries from entering the country just seems ridiculously racist and xenophobic. Stoping muslims from entering the country doesn't solve anything, it just promotes hate and injustice in the US. Thankfully the muslim ban is over and hopefully will not be put back into law.

York
Sorry this blog is coming in after the deadline, but I have good news I might have decided on what college to go to. The college I am thinking about attending is York College of Pennsylvania. This is because I have already been accepted and I visited the college today and I really enjoyed the campus as well as the town around it. My dad thinks it is far enough away from home for me to go to. Although I will not be committing to York until March 1, because that is when I will get UD's finally decision about my admission. Overall York seems like the school that is going to fit me.

This Last Week
This last week has been filled with bucket loads of stress. From final drafts to midterm test, it has been a really stressful week. Although I did well on all my tests and quizzes I was still a long week.Overall teachers really need to start pacing themselves with their tests and quizzes or the school should not require a certain amount of tests and quizzes. This is mainly because sometimes tests and quizzes can get in the way of actually learning new material especially when one whole week would be filled with tests/quizzes. This is just something that I have been thinking about all week.

Some of my favorite music right now
The Top 10
1. Ian Sweet-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWd5by5f-nM - this a really small band but they have a great wall of sound that is just hypnotic
2. The War on Drugs-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsoqmFL1vlU- crazy simple chords with with a driving beat and great lyrics makes this band one of my favorites.
3. Lil Yachty- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=251cxou3yR4- This young guy has an extremely different sound to most and good chorus makes his music great. The lil Boat Mix tape is the best.
4. Kendrick Lamar-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3rDc7sL0Co- By far the most meaningful rapper, and the most complex. Rap music with jazz is amazing. To Pimp a butterfly is what got me into him.
5. Chance- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TErySTMbFlk- This guy is more meaningful as well, but for me it is definitely how mellow he is especially in the acid rap mixtape.
6. Bill Ryder Jones- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a7TcW_2b9s- By far one of my all time favorites. I don't know what it is about two to birkenhead but I can not get it out of my head, with it dynamics and catchy chorus, Brilliant.
7. Black Keys-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygdVEIrVnIk- Their latest album turn blue was not a big hit, but turn blue is by far my favorite album they have ever made. Weight of love the first song has simple guitar slots but the solos are just so powerful.
8. The Wombats-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayuooyWPEUc- Their new stuff is a bit to popy for me but their first album has some of the most catchy choruses ever.
9. Frank Turner-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84Ns6ouwO1g- This guy is far and above the best performer I have ever seen and definitely one of the best some writers in history.
10. Alabama Shakes-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oib0a2_itA- An incredible singer, makes this band great. So much soul, every time I listen to gimme all your love I get goose bumps.

Some Photos I took
These are a few of my favorite photos I have taken this year around Newark. I took all of these photo for my photography class. The first one is a candid portrait of my Dad, the second photo is a picture of a Handicap sign in a parking lot. The next one I took while taking pictures of a field and a truck fly by and I managed to capture it. The next is a multiple exposure of my friend crossing the street. The final photo is of some flowers by a grave stone although I did use some photoshop magic.
